Four Packed Days of Summer Hockey

July 24, 2023

We were blessed with picture-perfect weather at our annual Summer Prep Camp this year! Division I Collegiate coaches ran the opening two days: Leah Zellner from Indiana University and Mal Mahan from the University of Louisville. Leah and Mal taught various skills and concepts, from creating scoring opportunities to decision-making in numbers-down defending.

Aim’s coaching staff led the final two days, teaching specialty skills, which are also a fan favorite: corners skill sets, aerials, shave tackles, and more! This year, we had an impressive coach lineup of playing and coaching experiences from various backgrounds. Aim’s staff represented the following collegiate programs: Brown University (’23 commit), Centre College, Dartmouth University, Denison University, Earlham College, Georgetown University, Indiana University of PA, Longwood University (’24 commit), Maryville University, Saint Louis University, and the University of Iowa.

As a tradition, our final day of camp is a nonstop competition day! Athletes are grouped into country teams and compete in various events, from 7v7 games, 2v1 continuous, air dribble mazes, cheer-offs, relay races, and more! Congratulations to our Competition Day Champions! Even though our High School Competition Day was cut short due to storms, we moved camp indoors and utilized the brand-new multi-purpose gymnasium for the first time, located inside the Bill Simon Field House. What a beautiful space we get to call our home!

Some additional highlights include Steal the Bacon, water cannons and toys, Kona Ice Truck, and LOTS of Taylor Swift blaring! Congratulations to our three Competition Day Champions!!!
