“McGuire leaving Nerinx Hall early to start career in Iowa”

Grace McGuire, U19 goalkeeper, will be graduating from Nerinx Hall this December to start her collegiate career at the University of Iowa.

“McGuire spent last summer wowing coaches with her performance in the AAU Junior Olympics, where she helped Team Royal to the gold medal. That strong effort earned her a chance to display her skills at the USA Under-19 national team tryout camp.

She continued that roll into the fall.

McGuire posted a 12-6 record in helping the Markers reach the final four of the Midwest Tournament. She turned heads with one eye-popping save after another in a 1-0 loss to eventual champion Villa Duchesne in the semifinal round.

Now, she is ready to take on college competition. So ready that she will graduate from Nerinx Hall in December and begin her Big Ten career in mid-January.

“I just wanted to get started as soon as possible,” McGuire said. “Staring a semester early will give me more training time, so I’m ready for the season in the fall.””
