On January 9, Aim welcomed Casey McGowan to our full-time staff! Casey moved to St. Louis from her hometown of Chalfont, Pennsylvania to work at Aim. She is our Youth Director and will become a familiar face to the Aim and field hockey community in St. Louis. Casey graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in December of 2015, where she played field hockey for four years. She earned a B.S. in Physical Education and Sport Exercise Science. After graduating, she served as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at her alma mater.
For four years, Casey has been the Recreation Leader at the Ocean City Recreation Department in Ocean City, NJ, working with girls and boys ages 4-18. While in this role, she also helped run field hockey clinics for participants.
Prior to moving to St. Louis, Casey held an internship with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where she was actively involved in organizing and implementing various sports clinics for a large group mission trip to the Dominican Republic. She also managed fundraising for 75 students to assist them in making the trip possible. Casey has traveled to the Dominican five times on mission trips in the past 2 years.
Casey started playing field hockey in third grade and played club field hockey for both Mystx and Vipers.
Aim Director Lauren Cornthwaite shares her excitement about Casey joining Aim: “It will be quite refreshing to have Casey on board! She has experience working with children of all ages and is very passionate about sharing her love of field hockey with this community. She understands the deep and positive impact a coach can have on individuals and values this role. She is energetic, hard-working, engaging, and has a big heart. She will be a great fit for Aim, and we are all looking forward to learning from her and working with her.”
Casey says, “I am thrilled to be on staff with Aim where I get to be surrounded by people, of all ages, who share the love of field hockey as much as I do.”
